ISO 9001 has the same basic structure as other international management system standards such as

How to Proceed?
In order to capitalize on the full offer of ISO 9001, organizations shall acquire an accurate understanding of the requirements and the intent of the standard. ISO 9001:2008
The new ISO 9001:2008 introduces no new requirements when compared to ISO 9001:2000. The changes are emphasis and clarifications in nature. In a Joint Communique between ISO and IAF, one year after publication of ISO 9001:2008 all accredited certificates issued (new or re-certification) shall be to ISO 9001:2008. Twenty four months after publication by ISO of ISO 9001:2008, any existing certification issued to ISO 9001:2000 shall not be valid.
